| DETAILS: | | How are you going to finance your new venture? MOST companies are not appropriate for venture funding but instead are self-funded or bootstrapped. Can you start a venture on a shoestring? Come learn funding strategies for footing the bill (and keeping more of your equity!).
Chris Ruff is the president and CEO of UIEvolution and has grown the company into a global leader of software solutions to over 100 business customers and major brands such as ESPN, Disney and ATT. Prior to joining UIEvolution, Chris was co-founder and CEO of Aptelix (winner of the 2000 BPC), where he was responsible for communicating the company's vision, defining product strategy and raising initial seed funding. Chris is an MBA alum of the Foster School.
Kabir Shahani co-founded Appature in 2007 with a vision of delivering bleeding-edge software that provides tremendous business value while still being easy and fun to use. In recognition of the company's success, Kabir was named one of BusinessWeek's "Best Young Tech Entrepreneurs of 2009" and was also named a 2011 Puget Sound Business Journal "40 Under 40" honoree. Prior to launching Appature, Kabir was the director of business development at Blue Dot and a project manager for Avanade. He's an alumnus of the UW Information School.
Resource Nights, offered throughout winter quarter by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, bring in experts from the local entrepreneurial community to teach various aspects of writing and presenting a business plan. These sessions are open to students and the public.
