Understanding Financial Statements
– Review key concepts including assets, liabilities, equity, revenues and expenses. Learn how to use the Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow Statement to understand a company’s financial position and performance.

Performance Evaluation – Learn about alternative techniques for evaluating operating and financial performance.  Understand how to set and use performance targets for your company.

Financing the Business –Companies raise capital from many sources. Learn the distinguishing characteristics of each major type of financing and learn how to choose the best mix based on firm characteristics.

Using Accounting Data in Decision-Making – Identify and correctly use data when analyzing an important business decision. Understand how data can vary dramatically with the setting. Evaluate two common decisions — dropping a product and changing the price of a product.

Investment Analysis – Organize the capital budget process. Estimate the cash flow from an investment. Evaluate alternative investment proposals. Set the minimum acceptable rate of return on an investment. Understand the impact of inflation, taxes, allocated costs and other factors on an investment decision.

Cost-Volume-Profit Analysis and Business Risk – Learn how cost structure decisions affect profit potential and business risk. Use cost-volume-profit analysis to examine the impact of alternative cost structures.

Leasing – Understand the forms of lease arrangements and advantages and disadvantages of leasing. Make the lease-or-buy decision.

Overhead Costs and Outsourcing Decisions – Evaluation of outsourcing as a solution to reduce the costs of overhead. Analyze the outsourcing decisions of a corporate division.
