Prior to attending the Foster MBA program, Kim spent four years at a Seattle-based telecommunication company, as a Marketing Manager managing the promotion portfolio from development to implementation and performance reporting.
During the first year of her MBA program, Kim actively explored a career in Finance via the New York and San Francisco Finance road trips as well as classes like Venture Capital Investment. She also networked extensively with connections in many industries, companies and positions. As a result, she decided to pursue product management and management consulting as her post-MBA career. During the internship search, Kim leveraged her network as well as the Business Career Center to master resume and cover letter writing, and refined her interviewing skills. After interviewing with many companies including Samsung, Deloitte, PwC and Microsoft, she accepted the Business Management internship offer at Amazon for the summer of 2012.
In addition to being a good student and career-focused, Kim also gives back to the MBA program through the Foster Ambassador program and leadership positions in clubs including Women in Business and Consulting Society. Kim is also passionate about making connections and understanding cultural differences, and currently sits on the Board of FIUTS (Foundation for International Understanding through Students).
Kim will be able to provide guidance and advice on resume and cover letter writing, behavioral and case interviews for marketing, product management and consulting positions, targeted job/ internship search and networking strategy, especially from an international student’s perspective.

Edward grew up in Seattle where he attended the University of Washington and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration. He is also a former U.S. Marine and combat veteran of Operation: Iraqi Freedom. After completing his undergraduate studies and military service, Edward worked for four years as a management consultant for Accenture and most recently, Slalom Consulting. His client list spans the high-tech, telecom, and aerospace & defense sectors – with a specialization in eCommerce strategy within the telecom industry.
Edward is an MBA candidate for the class of 2013, concentrating his studies in Finance and Strategy. His other leadership positions held at Foster include serving as President of the MBA Finance Society, and serving as President of the Foster Veterans Association – a club he recently cofounded with another military veteran MBA student.
Upon completion of his first year at Foster, Edward will work as a Summer Associate intern at Citigroup in New York. He also interviewed with numerous other companies during the internship recruiting cycle, including: UBS, Meridian Capital, Microsoft, Amazon, Samsung, Boeing and Nordstrom.
Edward can provide guidance in defining a focused or multi-tiered career-search strategy and navigating the end to end process of big firm recruiting. This includes assisting with targeted resume and cover letter drafting, networking skills, informational interviews, elevator pitch, and behavioral or case based interviews. He can also provide some insight on how to craft a logical “story” for those students attempting to switch industries and or functional roles.

Laura Machaj grew up in Virginia and has come to Seattle by way of San Diego. She attended the University of Virginia for her undergraduate studies, earning a B.S. is Biology. Laura moved to San Diego to pursue a career in Biotechnology Industry, where she worked in the Research and Development department for a medical device company that manufactured point-of-care rapid diagnostics. She specialized in product development, product improvement, and quality assurance. Laura went on to get certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt, developing and implementing strategic initiatives of lean production to a floral bouquet facility. She has moved to Seattle to pursue her MBA at Foster, concentrating on Project Management and Strategic Consulting.
Currently, Laura holds a leadership position as the VP of Career Development for the Consulting Society. She is working with a team of students to build the student-led interview preparation portion of the program. Laura will also be serving as the VP of Communications for the Operations Club. Laura will be interning this summer at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Laura can advise students on behavioral and case interview preparation along with resume and cover letter writing. She can also help students better understand what positions fit their expectations for internship and full-time opportunities and develop personalized strategies for securing those positions.
Jessica Martin (jmartin7@uw.edu)

Jessica grew up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and began her move west by attending Northwestern University where she studied Radio, Television & Film. After graduation, Jessica represented youth talent at a small boutique agency in Chicago before continuing her westward progress and moving to Los Angeles. During her time living in LA, Jessica worked in television at a number of companies including ABC Studios and The CW television network where she was involved with the entire creative process of developing new scripted television series and coordinating the launch of new programming.
Jessica is currently a member of the 2013 Full-Time MBA class, can be considered a career-changer and is focusing her studies on Marketing. She will be interning with Microsoft this summer with a Global Brand Strategy position with the Central Marketing Group (CMG). Jessica has experience interviewing with many of the larger companies based in Seattle and has an understanding and appreciation for marketing yourself for specific positions.
Jessica served as one of the 2013 first year representatives and currently has leadership positions with both Part II and the Foster Foodies. She is also active with the Foster Marketing Association, Tech Biz Club, C4C and Women in Business.
Amy Widener (awidener@uw.edu)

Amy grew up in Northwest Montana then moved to Philadelphia to attend the University of Pennsylvania where she studied International Relations and Psychology. After completing her undergraduate degree she moved back West to work in Human Resources for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. As the Recruiter, Amy was passionate about developing international recruiting programs throughout South America. As HR Generalist and HR Manager, she focused on benefits design and talent management. Before joining the Foster School of Business Amy worked for a start-up firm in Mendoza, Argentina, dedicated to creating exchange opportunities for enology students in Chile and Argentina in the wine industries of the US, Australia and New Zealand.
At Foster, Amy is hoping to expand her experience in Human Resources into the Human Capital consulting realm. She is the Secretary of the MBAA and an active member of the Consulting, Strategy and Net Impact clubs. She is working on the Foster Greening Initiative as well as training to climb Mount Rainier this summer as a fundraiser for Challenge for Charity.
