Discover career opportunities beyond Seattle and Washington State

Fulfilling careers exist beyond the boundaries of Washington State. Prestigious corporations are interested in hiring Foster MBAs. If you are excited by the idea of making a move as part of your career strategy, Road Shows and Treks help you make connections and explore opportunities in other cities. We even subsidize transportation expenses for up to $300 for eligible students. See below for answers to commonly asked questions about Road Shows and Treks.

1.   Will there be networking with Foster MBA alumni?
In addition to regional alumni networking events planned each year in major metropolitan cities, MBA Career Services periodically coordinates informal get-togethers with recent MBA alumni as part of Road Shows.

2.   How do I take part in a Road Show?
Students may be required to attend pre-Road Show meetings, complete research or fulfill other requirements in order to attend and receive funding.

3.   How do I take part in a Student-led Trek?
Student-led Treks must be pre-approved. This allows time for MBA Career Services to help you strategize and plan a successful trip.

4.   How do I get reimbursed?
Unsponsored MBA students in the evening and full-time MBA programs are eligible for up to three $300 reimbursements per year for Foster School of Business Road Shows, the NSHMBA, NBMBAA, Asian MBA, or other national MBA career expos, or Student-Led Treks. You must visit companies outside of Washington State in which you are actively and seriously pursuing a job. You must obtain prior written approval for the reimbursement at least 2 weeks in advance of your travel from your assigned career coach. Your request for approval must include the career-related nature of your trip and the dates of the trip (an agenda will usually do). You will also be required to submit a brief report on your new connections and follow-up plan upon returning.

Travel reimbursements are for airfare, train or mileage expenses incurred solely by the individual student. No other travel expenses such as lodging, food, group expenditures, ground transportation, conference fees or other types of expenses are covered. Please note that you must always purchase your own ticket in your own name to be eligible and do not use your personal miles. For a complete explanation and to submit your reimbursement request, see Career Services Sponsored Travel.
