Our Agenda

Under the direction of Bruce J. Avolio, Marion B. Ingersoll Professor of Management, the new Center for Leadership and Strategic Thinking at the University of Washington Foster School of Business is focusing on integrating rigor and relevance in terms of how leadership and strategic thinking is developed. With this focus on integration, the center intends to separate itself from the many other centers and programs available for developing leadership that do not have rigorous evidence that what they’ve recommended works.

The Foster School’s Brand Promise

  • To develop leaders who think differently and make a difference.
  • This is a promise built on 90 years of history and will be exemplified by all who graduate from the Foster School.

Center’s Foundational Base

Vision: To be the country's preeminent academic source for education and research in the fields of leadership and strategic thinking, thereby accelerating the Foster School's elevation to the top public business school in the nation.

Mission Statement: To advance the science and practice that connect leadership and strategic thinking for high performance impact.

Core Value: To be an authentic reflection of what we investigate and expect from others.
