Global Business Center hosts the Global Social Entrepreneurship Competition at the UW Foster School of Business each year. UW and international student teams meet in Seattle to pitch their innovative business ideas that tackle global poverty to business leader judges. 2010 winning teams created solutions and business plans that offered safe, affordable LED lighting in east Africa, a prick-less anemia scanner to boost maternal health in India and a sustainable rice production process for farmers in Mali.
2011 winning teams created solutions and business ideas that offered help to reduce sanitation-related diseases in Africa and to provide clean, affordable water and water management in rual India.
