Meet the 2014 GBCC Chairs & Managers

2014 Endeavor Statement: Our goal is to use GBCC as a medium to engage Foster students and international students to increase global awareness and cross-cultural communication, and ultimately create a memorable, impactful, and inspiring experience for all participants.

  GBCC Co-Chair

Lisa Dang is a 5th year student studying  Accounting and International Business with a focus in Japanese at the Michael G. Foster School of Business. She is passionate about travelling abroad and has been to 13 countries. She spent a semester studying abroad in Kobe, Japan, and another 5 weeks studying in Rome, Italy. Beyond travelling, she enjoys reading, hiking, adventure, and spending time with family and friends. Lisa is excited to work with everyone to create an inspiring and unforgettable experience for all GBCC participants this year.

  GBCC Co-Chair

Connor Harle is a senior at the Foster school studying Marketing, International Business and Spanish. In fall of 2012, Connor was lucky enough to study abroad in Barcelona, and he hopes to return in the near future. His dream job would be to play soccer for FC Barcelona, but he is looking into marketing or consulting as more realistic alternatives, hopefully with opportunities for travel. Connor is thrilled to be a part of GBCC 2014 and can't wait to meet other students from around the world and show them how great Seattle and the University of Washington are.

  Activities Manager

Nick Thorpe  Nick Thorpe is a senior studying Accounting and Informatics. He spent the summer of 2012 working abroad in Beijing, and is excited for another opportunity to work with international students through the GBCC. In his free time, Nick enjoys reading and getting breakfast with friends.

  Activities Manager

Xin Xin is a senior studying Communication, and is getting her Sales Certificate at Foster School of Business. In the past two years, Xin traveled to China, France, Italy, and Germany. This year she is planning to visit Australia. When she is not swamped with work, Xin enjoys drawing and painting, taking pictures, and reading random facts/things about the world. She also likes to indulge in comedy TV show marathons. Xin is thrilled to work with a fantastic team at GBCC, to meet students from all over the world, and to present them an exciting Seattle experience.

  Ambassador Manager

Alex Baker is a junior at the Foster school studying Finance and Information Systems. He has traveled all over the world and is interested in working internationally later in life. His favorite destinations so far are Southern Italy and Berlin. Alex also loves sports, music, and spending time with family and friends. He is very excited to have the opportunity to be a part of GBCC 2014 and cannot wait to meet all the competitors and show them what Foster, UW, and Seattle have to offer.

  Ambassador Manager

Ashley Bozeman is a senior studying Marketing and International Business with a Spanish focus at the Michael G. Foster School of Business. Ashley studied abroad in Leon, Spain in the Fall of 2012 at the University of Washington Leon Center. She has since traveled to the UK, Ireland, France and Italy, but Spain will always remain her favorite. Outside of the classroom, Ashley likes to explore new cafes and restaurants, take long walks (NOT runs) around Seattle, and spend endless hours watching Netflix (current obsession: Scandal). Ashley was a GBCC ambassador last year and can't wait to be involved again this year as an Ambassador Manager.

  Competition Manager

Anh Nguyen originally from Vietnam, is a senior studying Finance and Marketing at the Michael G. Foster School of Business. Anh left her country to study abroad in Singapore at a young age of 14 years old. After completing high school in two years, she came to the U.S. for college. This is her 7th year pursuing education oversea. Anh enjoys meeting people from different cultures and loves planning events, which is why she wanted to get involved in GBCC 2014 before her graduation. She also passionately works as an exchange manager to assist college students in finding internship and volunteering opportunities abroad. During her free time, Anh enjoys dancing ballet, cooking, grocery shopping, and bringing food for others, which explains why some of her friends nicknamed her “CFO” (aka Chief Food Officer).

  Social Media & PR Manager

Emelina Berkshire is a senior studying Marketing at the Michael G. Foster School of Business. She was fortunate enough to study abroad in India last summer, where she studied microfinance and social business. She also has enjoyed trips to Portugal, Spain, France, and Guatemala. In her free time, Emelina enjoys drinking copious amounts of coffee, practicing walking on her hands, attempting overly-ambitious craft projects, and strolling through farmers markets without ever actually buying anything.
