Undergraduate Business Consulting


The Business and Economic Development Center offers UW Foster School of Business undergraduate students the opportunity to get involved in consulting projects through a classes and through paid summer internships.

Students who participate in these Business and Economic Development Center courses and internships:

  • Learn strategic thinking and decision-making
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Gain management experience
  • Apply classroom knowledge in a real-world business setting
  • Develop professional networks

    Multicultural Marketing and Business Development (MKTG 445) – Students are paired with professional consultants from Hitachi Consulting, Deloitte, Ernst & Young as well as senior executives through the Seattle Rotary Club as they learn how to be consultants while developing growth plans for businesses owned by people of color and women and those located in economically distressed/emerging communities. Enroll winter quarter.

    Summer Internships – Each summer, the center offers paid 12-week summer internships where students work as consultants for small businesses or Tribal Enterprises.

    Beta Alpha Psi – Beta Alpha Psi members work with the center to help small business owners improve their accounting and financial management system. Beta Alpha Phi members receive training on how to manage a successful consulting engagement and then spend 20-30 hours with a small business owner each fall quarter.  Learn more about Beta Alpha Psi and how to join.
