Business & Community Connections

The Business and Economic Development Center at the University of Washington Foster School of Business accelerates the growth of businesses owned by people of color, women, and those located in economically distressed and emerging communities. The center expands students’ knowledge and skills, helps small businesses grow, create and retain jobs, and helps strengthen the regional economy.

Economic impact since 1995:

  • Generated more than $55 million in new revenues across Washington
  • Created and retained nearly 1,000 jobs
  • Enabled more than 1,000 students to work with 250 small businesses

    Minority executive education – Strengthen leadership skills and gain a competitive edge in a week-long intensive program. Scholarships available.

    Certificates – New Business Certificate Program to launch in 2009 for CEOs and executives of minority-owned businesses.

    Summer internships – Get a paid intern to help expand or improve your business.

    Nonprofit board fellows – Get fresh insights from Foster MBA students who serve on local and community boards of directors.

    New diversity research seminar – Foster faculty share recent research at an annual event for local business leaders.
