Professional Development Essentials

Which is better: technical mastery of the data you need to report, or the presentation skills to deliver your report effectively? It shouldn’t be an either/or proposition, and in the TMMBA Program, it’s not. We’ve paired a rigorous MBA curriculum with professional development essentials that make the program a game-changing tool in your portfolio.

The TMMBA Program addresses your growth in three key areas of professional development: 1) Teamwork, 2) Career planning, and, 3) Professional communications. Over 18 months you’ll learn how to:

  • Build and maintain high-functioning teams
  • Strategically manage your career goals
  • Work better across different communication styles (and generations)
  • Make the right first impression
  • Optimize your LinkedIn presence
  • Finesse a business meal with picture-perfect etiquette

Teamwork
Professor in Management, Greg Bigley, unpacks the art and science of successful teams in his class, Building Effective Work Teams (TMMBA 500). You’ll learn the principles of team formation, how to bring about collective buy-in to meet objectives, how to set useful rules for team work and how to course correct team performance.

Career planning
Susie Buysee, Associate Director of TMMBA’s Career Development Program, provides a foundation for exploring and evaluating what you want to do with your MBA, as well as a strategic framework and practical tools to help you get there. Along the way you'll have access to workshops, small group discussions, networking events, and other opportunities for career development.

Professional communications
Instructor Lorraine Howell is on a one-woman mission to eradicate the term “soft skills” from the world of business. Teaching sessions on topics that encompass non-verbal communication, persuasive speech and compelling business writing, Lorraine will help transform the way you present your ideas.
