Beyond the TMMBA Classroom

During your 18 months, you’re immersed in the technology management curriculum. Boost your learning curve even more when you take advantage of educational and networking opportunities beyond the classroom.

Teams
Teamwork drives the learning process in the Technology Management MBA Program. Designed for the fast-paced technology sector, the program is organized in a way that is rigorous, engaging and team-oriented. Small study teams draw on each member’s diverse academic background, occupation and company experience to take a project from inception to completion. A few of these knowledgeable people will also be your study team. Your team is drawn from a variety of backgrounds and companies so you share the widest range of experiences. Throughout the program, you count on each other for fresh insight, new perspectives and the support that comes from being part of a tight-knit group.

Student presentations
Each TMMBA student is required to give a presentation. These presentations provide students with an opportunity to practice presenting, and to get an introduction to their classmates' jobs, organizations, industries and challenges. The presentations are recorded and reviewed by the program’s communications specialist, who provides written and oral feedback.

CIE Business Plan Competition
Put your new knowledge to the test when you compete in the Business Plan Competition through the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CIE). You’ll present a new business concept to local venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and investors. In the past 10 years, the competition has awarded over $700,000 in prize money. Networking
The TMMBA program goes fast. But the connections you make last a lifetime. The program paves the way for future business relationships as you network with fellow MBA students, forge bonds with your study team, and meet high-caliber guest speakers. Professional, social and educational events provide plenty of opportunities for you to network with students, alumni, faculty, and technology professionals. See what’s coming up on the Foster event calendar.

Guest speakers bring the boardroom into the classroom
As guest speakers, executives offer a decision-maker's perspective and share lessons learned from leading some of the region's top companies, including REI, Ignition Partners, Safeco and Pacific Edge Software.
