Put your new knowledge to the test when you compete

As an extension of your learning, TMMBA students can compete in the Business Plan Competition through the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CIE). The competition provides a forum in which students can present new business concepts to local venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and investors. Taking part in the competition gives you a chance to:

  • Pitch an idea, maybe even one you’ve developed as part of your Study Group
  • Partner with TMMBA students and students from other programs
  • Attend workshops
  • Experience funding in the venture capital world
  • Win $25,000 in funding

The competition is a natural extension of the TMMBA entrepreneurship class, but also ties in with courses in strategy, finance, marketing and more.

The Business Plan Competition is the marquee event for the CIE. In the past 10 years, the competition has awarded over $700,000 in prize money to 66 student companies. Learn more at http://foster.washington.edu/cie/BPC/.

#7 Ranking from Princeton Review/Entrepreneur Magazine for Foster’s Entrepreneurship Program
The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (Foster Business School) was just ranked #7 in the 2009 Top 25 Graduate Programs in Entrepreneurship by the Princeton Review/Entrepreneur Magazine. In CIE’s case, PR/EM cited the UW Environmental Innovation Challenge, the Technology Entrepreneurship Certificate for MBA and engineering students, and market research internships with UW Tech Transfer’s LaunchPad among the innovations that differentiated the Center from its peers.
