Sales Certificate Requirements
All UW Foster School of Business undergraduates receive a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. To earn this degree, students complete a set of core business courses, plus 16 credits of business electives.
In addition to the BA degree requirements, students can choose the Sales Certificate Program, which requires an additional 20 credits. Many of the Sales Program credits count toward the Foster School Marketing Option.
The Sales Certificate Program is open to all UW undergraduate majors with junior standing and a minimum 2.8 cumulative GPA.
Program Requirements (20 credits)
Business Majors:
ACCTG 215 , ECON 200 or 201, MATH 112 or 124, MKTG 301 (Marketing Concepts) and an English composition course.
Non-Business Majors:
ACCTG 215, ECON 200 and MKTG 301. Equivalent courses may be accepted for transfer students. For entry into MKTG 301, please contact the Sales Program at salesprg@uw.edu.
Early Starters -- Freshmen and Sophomores:
Freshmen and sophomores should contact Jack Rhodes, Sales Program Director for individual advice about what classes are needed.
Elective Courses:

THE SALES CURRICULUM (12 required credits)
"Where Sales Theory Meets Real World Application"
In addition to the required prerequisite courses and elective courses listed above, the Sales Program Certificate requires the folowing 12 credits which includes completion of the Sales Program Practicum. The required courses are:
- MKTG 335 — Principles of Selling (4 credits)
- MKTG 430 — Sales Force Management (4 credits)
- MKTG 496 — Sales Program Practicum (4 credits — Spring Quarter only) A unique opportunity to match your skills and interests in sales with a participating employer in an internship-like setting in the spring of your senior year. Students spend 2 hours per week in the classroom and 12-15 hours per week at their internship.
Upon completion of your practicum and fulfullment of all the requirements, you will receive a Sales Program Ceritificate and be recognized at the annual Business Partners Appreciation Breakfast.
