The Advisory Board for the Master of Science in Information Systems Program is comprised of experts in the field, and we engage them actively in the curriculum development process.

He spent   majority of his career managing large design and implementation programs for clients in the Telecommunication industry. During his later years he supported the development of Accenture's global outsourcing business.

Tom graduated in 1987 from the University of California at Berkeley with a BS in Finance. Tom joined Accenture in 1988 and has spent 24 years helping Accenture's clients in North America tackle their technology challenges – with an emphasis on large systems integration and outsourcing. Tom currently is the Managing Partner for Accenture's North America Communications, Media, and High Tech technology practice – working across the Communications, High Tech, Media and Entertainment, and Aerospace and Defense industry segments. Previously, Tom was the Managing Partner for Accenture's Pacific Northwest practice.

Mike is currently the Managing Director for a new Software Development company, specializing in mobile applications for enterprise.  Mike is responsible for developing new markets globally.  The company will formally launch in January 2012.  Prior to this role, Mike was a Partner with Accenture for 19 years, working with several clients on Technology projects and supporting teams globally. Mike graduated from the University of Washington in 1991 with an Economics degree. He received his MBA from Willamette University and returned to Seattle to join Andersen Consulting, now Accenture. He has worked with telecommunications and high tech clients around the world.

Deb joined the University of Washington in 1997. His areas of specialty include: databases and data warehousing, heterogeneous and distributed systems, systems development and contracting, and IT adoption. He has published works in several top tier journals and taught at the undergraduate, graduate and executive education levels.

Ming joined the University of Washington in 2002. He is an associate editor of Information Systems Research, Decision Sciences Journal, and Decision Support Systems. His research interests include: electronic commerce, outsourcing and contract theory, and reputation systems in online markets. He teaches graduate, undergraduate, and Ph.D. courses. Ming has conducted executive trainings on IT strategies for senior managers in manufacturing and high-tech industries and has consulted for Alibaba Taobao,a leading e-commerce company in China.

As Starbucks chief information officer, Curt oversees the company’s global technology and engineering services for all Starbucks businesses and operating organizations. Curt has been with Starbucks for over 14 years and has served in a number of roles, including senior vice president of Business Technology, supporting retail technology as well as international technology.  His current role oversees retail technology, business intelligence, software engineering, technology services, information security, finance systems, global infrastructure, as well as infrastructure systems across all Starbucks channels and geographies. Prior to joining Starbucks he held various technology leadership positions within Wendy’s International, Inc. Curt graduated from Ohio State University in 1991 with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics.

Gabe grew up in Seattle attending the University of Washington and graduating with an honors B.A. in Economics in 1976.  He joined Boeing the same year as a financial systems analyst. Gabe’s assignments at Boeing included: Director for Boeing corporate network operations and corporate IT help center operations; Director for Commercial Airplanes Spares Information Systems; Director for Commercial Airplanes Technical Services Systems; Director for Commercial Airplanes Technical Customer Support Systems; Director of IT Enterprise architecture.  In 2003 he attended INSEAD’s Executive Advanced Management Program.

After graduating from the University of Washington and prior to joining the Costco organization, Tim worked for four years at the corporate office of The Gap as a Senior Financial Accountant. Tim has been with Costco for over 23 years in various positions, including V.P. I.S. in Infrastructure; V.P. I.S. in Applications Development; AVP I.S. in Operations; Director, Executive Membership as well as Director, Accounting. His current role includes general support of the Infrastructure areas: Power Systems Resources & Data Center Operations; Network Services; Infrastructure Core and Business Services; Deployment & Service Support; Project Management Office (PMO); Quality Assurance and Release Management. In addition to these areas, Tim assists with leadership and staff development, key vendor partner relationships and supports the evolution of a divisional strategy.

Andrew is the founder and Principal of Pivotal Consulting, a Seattle-based consulting firm providing a broad portfolio of business and technology consulting services which help companies improve business performance and achieve strategic goals. Andrew graduated from the University of Washington Michael G. Foster School of Business with degrees in Information Systems and Entrepreneurship. Since graduating, Andrew has worked with several leading organizations including Microsoft, Starbucks, PATH, SVB Financial Group, Premera, Corbis, Univar, Fisher Communications, Morgan Stanley Smith Barney and Nordstrom.

Don is responsible for all of the information infrastructure (hardware, networks, e-mail, voice mail) at Group Health. He oversees the Enterprise Project Management function, the Web Services group, Data Services, and Enterprise Applications. Don is the Chair of the IT Strategy Council which is responsible for a single, integrated IT strategy and architecture for all divisions of the company. Prior to joining Group Health in July 2010, he was chief information officer at Pacific Medical Centers, where he realigned the IT function with the needs of the business and helped the organization select a new electronic medical record system. Before that, he spent more than 10 years at Miami Children’s Hospital in Florida in a variety of IT roles, including executive director and chief information officer. Don received a Master of Science in Computer Information Systems from the University of Miami, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Florida.

Kyle joined PACCAR in 2007 and is accountable for delivery and support of IT infrastructure world-wide.  His other duties include oversight of Kenworth, Peterbilt, PACCAR Engine Company, PACCAR Financial Services and PACCAR India IT organizations.  Kyle also leads ITD Governance, Innovation, and Product Development efforts.  Prior to joining PACCAR, Kyle led a number of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures for Alltel Wireless in Little Rock, Arkansas, and held senior IT leadership positions at Western Wireless in Bellevue, Washington.  Kyle holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Washington and completed the Executive Program at Stanford University.

Ed directs the build out of Ernst & Young's global teaming and offshoring capabilities with India and elsewhere. His position leverages a diverse background that includes IT compliance, IT management, and IT infrastructure build outs in the broadcast and telecom sectors. Other responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of a cloud based computing model that enables EY's global teaming approach, oversight of service delivery quality as well as cultural, communications, and soft skills training designed to improve the integration of onshore and offshore teams.

Jim joined Safeco Insurance in 2006 as Vice President, IT Strategy and later served as Vice President, Application Development.  Following the Liberty Mutual acquisition of Safeco in 2008, he moved to his current role leading Safeco Insurance Information Technology. Prior to joining Safeco, Jim held IT leadership roles in vendor management, eBusiness development, and international operations for financial services and hi-tech manufacturing companies. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Central Florida.
