Welcome to the PhD Program
The PhD Program in Business Administration is a research-based program designed to train scholars who will be knowledgeable about new developments on the frontiers of their discipline, capable of contributing to the advancement of knowledge relevant to business education and practice, and skillful in conveying this information to students and practitioners. The program was created primarily for students interested in academic careers, although this training is also useful for individuals seeking research positions in business and government, as well as in consulting firms.
NEW:
The Center for Leadership and Strategic Thinking is seeking two doctoral students to work in the Center to promote its research and development mission. The chosen students will receive mostly Research Assistantship funding from the Center for up to 4 years. They will also receive Teaching Assistantship funding to meet teaching requirements in the student’s home department from which the PhD degree is granted. Like any student in the program, those who are chosen will be guaranteed four years of financial support with some possibility for support during a fifth year if needed. The students will work with the Center on various funded research projects that span a broad spectrum of areas including strategic leadership change and transformation through to the assessment of ethical leadership in individuals, teams, and organization. If you think that leadership will be a major area of interest, no matter which department you apply to, you may want to apply for one of these two positions.
The Center will select students for funding based on recommendations by the chairman of the department to which the student is admitted. Prospective students should indicate in their statement of purpose that they are interested in receiving funding from the Center. While a student’s HOME would be in their department, the Director of the Center and other faculty involved in the Center’s research projects would be eligible as members of the students’ Supervisory Committee and/or Reading Committee.
