When companies tout, “our employees are our greatest assets” they certainly mean it as a compliment to the people who comprise the nuts and bolts of their organizations.
So why is Howard Behar so adamant that employees be viewed as people and not “assets?” It started with his simple observation that people are exponentially more complex than any item on a balance sheet and grew into a philosophy that’s proven its effectiveness at the highest levels of business.
As retired president of Starbucks and current Fritzky Chair at the Foster School of Business, Howard brings a unique perspective based on the school of hard knocks.
